Most people assume that newborn photography means getting everyone ready, packing a bag, and leaving the house within a couple weeks of having a baby.
That alone is enough to make a lot of families put it off entirely.
What I offer is different. With in home newborn photography, I come to you. Your baby stays where they’re most comfortable, and you don’t have to time anything around naps or feeds or getting out the door. I offer in home newborn photography so you don’t have to leave the house or try to time everything perfectly.

What traditional newborn photography asks of families
When people think about newborn photos, they usually picture getting everyone ready, packing up the diaper bag, and leaving the house at a time when nothing really runs on a schedule.
There’s often an unspoken pressure to have things feel pulled together. The baby should be asleep, if there are siblings they should cooperate, and everyone should generally be at their best.
For some families, that works really well. They want something to plan for and a reason to get out of the house. It gives them something to look forward to.
For many parents, though, those early weeks look different. When you’re still figuring out your rhythm with a new baby, staying home often feels like the most supportive option.

What in-home newborn photography looks like
An in-home newborn session starts with me showing up at your door.
From there, we use what’s already there. I look for the best light first, then we settle into the spaces you naturally spend time in. That might be your bed, the couch, the nursery, or wherever you tend to be with your baby.
You don’t need to have anything styled or cleaned up in a certain way. The session moves around what your baby needs. If they need to eat, you feed them. If they need to be held, you hold them. If a sibling wants to come and go, they can.
I’ll guide you when it helps and step back when it doesn’t. You’re never expected to perform or keep things on track. My goal is to document this time as it actually feels, not to stage anything or interrupt what’s already happening.

You don’t have to choose between real and beautiful
When I first started, my work leaned much more strictly documentary. I stayed hands-off and let everything unfold without stepping in.
Over time, I learned that some families who love an authentic and documentary style still love a bit of direction. Not to turn it into something staged, but to feel supported. To know where to sit, what to do with their hands, how to settle into the moment without overthinking it.
I meet people where they are. Some sessions are more observational, some have more guidance, and most fall somewhere in between.
You still get images that feel like your life, but you’re not left wondering what to do the entire time!

Who this is for
This tends to work well for families who don’t want to leave the house in those early weeks and don’t want the session to feel like something they have to prepare for.
It’s a good fit if you want photos that reflect what this time actually looked like, without everything being arranged or directed.
And it works for people who want some guidance, but don’t want to feel like they’re being posed through every moment.
I photograph in-home newborn sessions across New York and throughout the Northeast, so this approach works whether you’re nearby or a couple hours away.
