One of the first things people ask me when they’re thinking about booking a family photo session is: “How much time do we need?”

The answer depends on what you want to remember.

I offer three types of documentary-style sessions, each designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re looking for something short and simple or to document a full day in your family’s life. As a documentary family photographer, I want each session to feel relaxed and real.

Snapshot Session – 1 Hour

For families who want a quick, honest glimpse into their everyday life.

This session is perfect if you love the look and feel of documentary photography but don’t want to commit to a full afternoon. Maybe it’s a cozy morning at home, time in the backyard, or a short outing together—whatever feels like “you” right now.

Includes:

  • ~1 hour of photography
  • A digital gallery of hand-edited images (minimum of 50)
  • Prints and albums available separately

Signature Session – 2 Hours

This is my most popular option—and the one I recommend for most families.

Two hours gives us time to settle in. We’re not rushing. There’s space for snacks, pauses, and spontaneous moments to unfold. It’s great for documenting the rhythm of your home life or for events like family rituals, birthdays, or extended family visits.

Includes:

  • ~2 hours of photography
  • Full digital gallery (minimum of 120 images)
  • Slideshow
  • Complimentary heirloom photo album

Day in the Life – All Day (up to 12 Hours)

This is for families who want it all.

We start in the morning—bedhead, breakfast, and snuggles—and stay through the ordinary and the unexpected. These sessions are about depth. They’re for families who want to remember what a full day with small kids really looked and felt like.

Includes:

  • Up to 12 hours of photography
  • Full digital gallery (minimum of 250 images)
  • Slideshow
  • Complimentary heirloom photo album

This is the most immersive way to document your family’s story—and it’s something truly special.
