Session Details & Pricing

The photos I cherish most from my own childhood are the unplanned ones that showed what life actually looked like, such as ice cream breaks with my sister (should I get bangs again?). That's the spirit I bring to every session, whether we spend a full day together or 30 minutes at golden hour

My goal is to make this experience feel easy and connective for you. I bring a calm, observant energy shaped by years of working with kids, teens, and families. It's closer to having a friend visit, someone who can see your world with fresh eyes and a good camera.

Some families want to be completely in the moment with no direction at all. Others like a little guidance along the way. I'll walk you through everything ahead of time so the session fits your comfort level and you know exactly what to expect.

Below you'll find every session option, what's included, and answers to the questions I hear most.

If you’d like to talk things through first, you’re always welcome to book a quick call.  A retainer holds your spot and goes toward your total fee. The remaining balance is due the day before your session.

When your gallery is ready, you’ll be able to download your images, order prints, and choose any heirloom products you’d like.  Everything is created through professional labs and delivered right to your door.

On the day of your session, it’ll feel less like a photoshoot and more like having a friend in the room who happens to have a good camera and an eye for noticing the special moments and details.

After booking, you’ll receive a welcome guide, simple prep tips, and a short questionnaire that helps me learn about your family.  A week before, I’ll check in to finalize details and answer any last questions.

Kind words from  families

You don’t need to prepare anything. Documentary sessions flow from the ordinary things you already do as a family. Some families like to have a couple of familiar activities in mind — not to stage moments, but to give everyone something natural to move through while the real moments unfold. Check out this short guide: 10 Activities for your Documentary Family Session (Spoiler: they’re things you probably already do.)

Do we need to prepare anything?

Frequently asked questions

Session length depends on the type of coverage. Portrait-focused sessions (Short & Sweet Session, Extended Family Portraits) tend to run shorter, about 30 minutes to an hour, while documentary sessions (The Family Session, Newborn Sessions) run longer, typically one to two hours, to allow real moments room to unfold. Day in the Life Sessions range from a half day to a full pajamas-to-pajamas day.

Whatever session you choose, I'll walk you through what to expect ahead of time so the pacing feels comfortable and unrushed.

How long does a family session last?

Frequently asked questions

In documentary family photography, your kids don’t have to perform or pretend. There’s nothing to “cooperate” with. They can play, explore, and just be themselves, and I’ll photograph the real moments that come from that. Many families tell me this is the part they appreciate most — the session feels natural instead of stressful.  If time is your concern, the Short & Sweet Session might be just right for you!

What if my kids don’t cooperate?

Frequently asked questions

If you'd like a few images where everyone looks at the camera, we can absolutely do that in The Family Session. I'm happy to set aside some time at the end of your session so you have both the documentary moments and a simple, camera-facing photo of everyone together, along with various combinations of family members. NOTE: If you want mostly guided portraits, the Short & Sweet Session (for one household) or Extended Family Portraits (for larger groups) are a great fit for you.

What if we also want a few posed photos?
