“Rebecca was there but not there — calm, unobtrusive, and somehow she managed to capture our family exactly as we are. For once, I actually love the photos of myself.”
— Ali, a mom of three littles who wanted family photos without the pressure of posing.
That’s why I love what I do—photographing Hudson Valley families who want to be witnessed, not posed.
BETSY & NICK | family SESSION
Instead of stiff poses, she followed our family as we did the things we love most, preserving the genuine joy and connection we share. The result was a collection of stunning photos that truly reflect who we are as a family and will bring us so much joy for years to come.
Rebecca has an incredible talent for capturing the most beautiful, natural moments.

Most families set aside about two hours for a documentary family photography session. That amount of time allows everyone to settle in so the moments unfold naturally rather than feeling rushed.
In practice, sessions sometimes wrap up sooner, depending on what’s happening with your family that day. If you’re looking for something shorter and more guided, I also offer portrait sessions designed to be quick and simple!

Documentary photography is the heart of my work. During these sessions I focus on the way your family naturally interacts rather than directing a series of poses. Some families, though, are looking for something shorter and more guided. For that reason I also offer portrait-style sessions with simple direction and a shorter time commitment!
Both approaches are available to families in the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Do you only photograph documentary family sessions in the Hudson Valley?

Documentary family photography is about photographing real life as it unfolds. Instead of staging moments, I observe and photograph the interactions that are already happening. Hudson Valley family photography sessions often happen at home, in a backyard, or during a simple outing like a walk or time at a local outdoor space. The goal is to create an experience that feels genuine to your family!
